Meet Cyn.

Growing up in a coastal town, she continues to be amazed by the many changes of color in the sky, sea & landscapes that transform moment to moment.

After years of being an oil painter, she fell in love with the ebb & flow of encaustic paintings. It suited her feel for a “dreamscape” type of painting.

What is Encaustic Painting?

Encaustic Painting is an ancient art form, going back to the Egyptians. Now it is created by combining Beeswax, damar resin & powdered pigment, melted & fused on a wood panel.

Melted Wax

Melt the encaustic wax gently over low heat until it reaches a temperature of 200 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring a slow and controlled process to maintain the wax's properties and consistency.

First Coat

Apply a thin layer of heated clear beeswax as the initial coat onto the warm board to establish the foundation for the wax application process.

Fusing

Proceed to use heat source to carefully fuse the current layer before proceeding to add the subsequent layer on top. This crucial step ensures proper adhesion and integrity between the layers.

Layering

Each layer of wax should be carefully fused together before proceeding to apply the next layer. This creats a seamless and polished finish that enhances the overall quality of the waxing process.

a scape for everybody.
